hi
looking for advice on a satellite set-up,
what equipment needed to recive moveis/footy, what system would you reccomend going for ?
was thinking on the lines of a TECHNOMATE 5400 CI+ & 80 CM dish,
any advice would be much appreciated
:idea0:
hi, what you have suggested is a good starting point but if you can stretch to it id choose a 90cm dish instead and a cheap diseqc motor this will get you about 25 satalites and will also get you the football and movies yuor after (with the right software):biggrin0:

I have this system and it can be a pain sometimes with 2 or 3 key changes in a day. To be honest it may pay you to wait a bit longer as the rumors are the one main package is going to change encryptions so only free to air will be available.

thanks
was told to wait buy few guys now, as encryptions keep changing, might go ahead and get dish put buying system on hold a few weeks to see what happens,
rather than updating encryption ever few days,

Dish size = 1 what you expect to get and 2 where you live
Fist check out what you WOULD like to get and if it going to be available
then check out the satellite footprints
Just to give you some reading matter look for Fausto then think about a Wifi Cam with the possiblity of card S****ing(save all those key changes)
Ive a 90cm motorised dish and live in the Midlands
Strong 8700
Manhatten st250
cams
Duolabs 2.2
Astom
Magic
cards
2x Gold
1x Fun 7
loads of 4s
My advice same as every body else WAIT i think there might be some big changes ..if not this year ealry next

as a satellite user for years the advice to wait and see what happens
is very sound advice before decide to buy. but at this time i would think about
a HD receiver and if you go for a technomate i would get one of the super models, or if your good with a computer what about a linux box? tm now have
some new models tm500 and tm600 as for keys changing many times
the chns on thor 1w the key as been the same since the 7/9/09 but like anything else there are no gaurantee's it will last and once it changes encryption then most sat receivers that are on emu will be free to air untill something else gets open
i also have the v2.3 diablo cam but that has now lost a lot of the channels
it was opening for me the gamma card is about the best at the moment for
the football fans on the bullsat package on 39e on the same file for a couple of months plus it opens chns on astra 19e

the dish will get a good signal from most of the satellites for you
but i would have gone for a 1 mtr dish. but as thedork has said at this time with all the encryption changes no one knows whats going to
happen, but first you to buy need a [null modem cable] and a
[memory stick] to patch and load softcams etc: on the receiver. then you can get the box patched and a chn list for all the satellites. are you having the dish fitted for you? it can be a bit tricky to get the dish set on the correct arc. if you need help patching or setting the box up and scanning the chns etc: just ask mate i have had the same model for some time and find it a good quality. it has user friendly menu's,and it's very easy to set up there are two models, did you order the super model?
