Hi All,
Feel free to disagree with me but...
Why the hell is it that Virgin are the only company in the country able to supply decent broadband (certainly where I live). the closest the competition can manage is 4Mb "broadband". Living with anything less than 10Mb is a shocking pain. And what's with their activation charges???
I offered to pay my monthly subscription to get the 50mb installation and they told me I'd need a wireless router for 30 quid and an activation that would cost 50. 50 quid. No negotiation. I **** you not. how can they justify this? It's just a sodding levvy to those who want real unmetered internet access. Sure it's like 6 pounds a month when you break it down but it makes me so CROSS:mad0:. 80 pounds as a one shot charge to register a mac id and give me a useless wireless router.

Believe it or not, I was phoning to cancel. I had a 2Mb Line which they hadn't bothered to upgrade and was finding out when my contract ended. As it turned out I was out of contract. I told them I was going to leave unless they gave me a good internet deal and the best they could do was charge me the earth for a 50mb line. In the end asfter seeing that the only internet access available from my bt line was 4mb i ended up with the 20mb package but would have been happy to pay the monthly payments for the 50mb line. I just woudlnt pay for the useless router, a new modem and 50 quid for the privelidge of them registering my ip address.
Fingers crossed this time next year 50mb will be the standard l speed anyway..

Me aswell, does it rain anywhere else other than the uk?
I had V net ages back, in another location, was ok but not up to the D/L spec ... although the usual ">nMeg" clause popped up. Hence, they can supply/cap you with almost any download speed and you had little comeback.... /rant

It's a shame because VM I found at my last place was a great service. I got it when it started out at 512, then went through the various upgrades as they each came along, up to 20meg, and the only thing I could fault them for really was the price. £37.99 I was paying a month before moving, and it was a bloody ripoff, but the speeds were fantastic. Well, they were before the traffic management came along.
Unfortunately, I'm in a non cabled area now, so have had to sub up to dsl. Although, I'm with BE now, and they're pretty good too. 18meg on a good day. No grief, and only £20 a month.

the connection charge they usually waiver without much effort just asking will get you that but if your a new customer they usually give a tad bit more off depending on who you get on the phone.
